Advanced ATP (aATP): The Fulfillment Revolution

Standard Available-to-Promise (Classic ATP) relies on older, rigid PAC (Product Availability Check) logic. SAP is pushing all complex supply chain scenarios toward Advanced ATP (aATP), leveraging HANA's in-memory computing to replace legacy APO-gATP functionalities.

[THE ARCHITECTURE] The killer feature you must configure is Alternative-Based Confirmation (ABC).

  • The Old Way: A customer orders 100 units. Plant A has 0. The Sales Order (VA01) throws an unconfirmed schedule line. The CSR must manually check other plants.
  • The aATP Way: With ABC configured in SPRO (Cross-Application Components > Advanced Available-to-Promise), the system instantly detects the shortage at Plant A, checks Plant B, automatically substitutes the delivering plant on the sales order item, and recalculates the route—all within milliseconds before the user clicks 'Save'.

[BS ALERT] aATP is incredibly powerful, but it requires pristine master data. If your material replenishment lead times (RLT) in MM or your EWM inbound processing times are inaccurate, aATP will make terrible automated decisions at lightning speed, confirming orders that your warehouse cannot physically fulfill.
