####

The push for S/4HANA Public Cloud is relentless, and smaller warehouses run perfectly fine on it. But if you operate a highly automated distribution center with conveyors and cranes driven by EWM MFS...

> **Applicable Systems:** SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud vs. Private Cloud / On-Premise.
>
> **Verification Link:** [SAP EWM Material Flow System (MFS) Architecture](https://www.google.com/search?q=https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP%5FS4HANA%5FON-PREMISE/36802406aebb4b96b1598246e1d316ee/a35cf953603410149111b7d52a229a43.html&ref=s4journal.com)

**\[HARD RECOMMENDATION\]** Do not touch the Public Cloud edition. MFS requires sub-second latency to communicate with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers). The internet latency inherent in a Public Cloud architecture will cause micro-delays, leading to routing errors, crashed pallets on conveyors, and physical bottlenecks. If you run MFS, you must stay on Private Cloud or On-Premise decentralized EWM.
